Not quite in Bath but just down the road. The only flying UK Lancaster will be at the Yeovilton Air Day this July. In May on the Isle of Wight I managed to see this beauty as it flew across Cowes Harbour giving a nod to the Yacht Squadron, Royal as it is and we are all excited its going to be at Yeovilton this year.

Now the Royal Yacht squadron in Cowes is on the West side but the clever money was on parking up in East Cowes for the flyby. The hunch paid off and we were rewarded beautifully and my Father who hadn’t seen one since 1943, actually ‘air punched’ and let out a ‘yesss’, as the 4 props driven by Rolls Royce flew over head. Now even if you aren’t into aeroplanes and military things, you simply cannot ignore the ‘Lanc’ in flight.

So back to the South west and it’s appearing alongside a Hurricane and a Spitfire just down the road from Bath at RNAS Yeoviltons air day on Saturday July the 13th. Bath City Sound will be there and we may just have some tickets up for grabs for you to win. Amongst the vintage collection you can also catch the Eurofighter display, the Black Cats, The Reds of course and a whole plethora of top quality cars including the Bugatti Veyron.

Hey its Luke here from School Rocks!

On Tuesday we started the show by talking about our day. We both had exams, for me I have had three exams, Business, Math’s & RE. So it’s been quite a busy and stressful day for me doing lots of exams. Tom had two. But we think we have done really well in them which is good.

Howdy all, (don’t know why I started like that) its Luke here from School Rocks!

On Monday’s show we started off by talking about our day. For Tom it had been a very busy day, and for me it had been like usual just normal. We talked about the game we played in PE its called “capture the flag”. The aim of the game is that we have to try and capture the enemy’s flag. Tom and I have developed a new tactic. Tom pretended that he was on the opposite team and he done some distracting so I could run across.

Work is well underway by the Council to install state-of-the-art traffic electronic messaging signs around the outskirts and within Bath to provide better travel information for drivers entering the city, for £1.2million.

Once fully functioning, the Variable Messaging Signs (VMS) will provide a range of information including incidents, events, car park space availability, and encourage motorists to use Park & Ride – all from the Council’s existing traffic control room at the touch of a button.

As you know after 4pm every day we play a different game, as it is a Monday we play What’s In The Box. Tom put a random item in a random box and I had to guess what’s inside. The clues were its used by a lot of people & it’s very useful. I guess a key chain, I was wrong it was a landyard.

Mr G couldn’t join us on Friday for his quiz so Tom and I caught up with him on Thursday. He didn’t do so well only scoring 4 and getting 3 incorrect. Which means the current scores are 23 – 13 to Mr G.

On Thursdays show we started by talking about our day. Tom had recorded some Parkour on a video camera. This involved him doing various different flips and tricks. On that subject we talked about how on Wednesday night I done some parkour. We went to one of our local parks and I attempted to do some tricks. As you can probably imagine I wasn’t very good.

Eighteen workers are facing removal from the country after a series of immigration raids in the Bath area.

Officials from the Home Office visited four restaurants and takeaways last Thursday, forcing all of them to shut for the night.

The department said all 18 people were staff originally from Bangladesh who had been working illegally.

Concern is mounting over the lack of information being provided to residents over plans to roll-out superfast broadband to rural parts of Bath and the surrounding area.

The Council, as part of the Connecting Devon and Somerset BDUK project, recently signed a contract with BT to deliver broadband internet speeds of up to 24mbps to 90% of households in rural parts of the authority.

Sony has announced UK pricing for its upcoming range of 4K TVs.

The 55-inch Sony Bravia X9 will cost £4,000 when it launches in mid-June, while the 65-inch model will be priced at £6,000. Both sets can be pre-ordered from the Sony website from today.

Staff at Bath & North East Somerset Council are taking part in the national Walk to Work Week 2013 this week, from May 13th – 17th.

The Council has signed-up to the Week which encourages staff to think about how they can walk more during the day. In turn, this may help the organisation save local taxpayers money on things like commuter and electricity costs.

O2 and Vodafone have confirmed that they will sell the Nokia Lumia 925.

The Windows Phone, which was announced in London earlier today (14/05/13), will come exclusively in white on O2, while Vodafone will be the only network to stock the 32GB version in black.

Snapchat has admitted that it’s “sometimes possible” for users to recover deleted photos.

The app allows users to share pictures which are automatically deleted after ten seconds. Over 150 million images are sent each day.

After 4pm we talked about our new code signals and about chocolate. In radio we need a way to communicate to one another on the air. We have developed some hand signals which means different things. So there is one to say move onto next song and stuff like that. Moving onto the chocolate part of the show, we were given a bar of chocolate each. If you can remember back to Mondays show we talked about our trip to the woods. It was what we won because we won a task. It was the best chocolate that I have ever had, but it was a struggle taking the rapper off.

On a Tuesday we play our game spell it. It’s very simple Tom reads out 3 words and I have to spell them correctly to win a point! The words were Women, Listening & Caught. I spelt all 3 correct!

On Monday’s show we started the show by talking about our day. Tom and I went to the woods near our school to play a few team games. The aim of the game was to find the hidden ball in the forest. My team found ours almost instantly, someone hid it in a really bad. Because the game had only gone on for 20 seconds and we already won, Tom and I were tasked with hiding this ball somewhere off the ground. We found an absolutely amazing place! No one in the end found the ball so Tom and I won! Now the next challenge was finding where we had hid it. But don’t worry we had all of this planned, we put out a few markers to remind us.

A couple from Bath are joining six of their friends in a challenge to row across the English Channel – two months after four of them first sat in a boat.

Lucy Force and Alex Bowman will face waves, the weather and the challenge of navigating around large cargo ships during the 21 miles from Dover to Calais in a small gig.

A new incoming parliamentary bill will help take further action to tackle anti-social behaviour in Bath. The news comes as figures reveal that there have been 12,680 fewer incidents of anti-social behaviour in Avon and Somerset.

Samsung is experimenting with 5G technology and claims to have made a breakthrough in its research.

Scientists previously believed that the high-frequency wavebands required for 5G connectivity may be incompatible with mobile networks, but the Korean firm insists its ‘mmWave Mobile Technology’ system is fully fledged.

A Jetstream aircraft became the first to fly “unmanned” across UK shared airspace last month.

An on-board pilot handled the take-off, and landing.

But during the 500-mile journey, the specially adapted plane was controlled by a pilot on the ground, instructed by the National Air Traffic Services.

Microsoft has announced it will offer a preview version of its first major update to Windows 8 next month.

The news comes after growing criticism of the software’s user interface.

The clues were that you can use it with your friends & it quite often is used on family games. I wasn’t really sure but when it can to the time of answering the question I just guessed dice. I was correct now making the scores 2 – 1.
