The only flying UK Lancaster will be at the Yeovilton Air Day this July so don't miss it!

Not quite in Bath but just down the road. The only flying UK Lancaster will be at the Yeovilton Air Day this July. In May on the Isle of Wight I managed to see this beauty as it flew across Cowes Harbour giving a nod to the Yacht Squadron, Royal as it is and we are all excited its going to be at Yeovilton this year.

Now the Royal Yacht squadron in Cowes is on the West side but the clever money was on parking up in East Cowes for the flyby. The hunch paid off and we were rewarded beautifully and my Father who hadn’t seen one since 1943, actually ‘air punched’ and let out a ‘yesss’, as the 4 props driven by Rolls Royce flew over head. Now even if you aren’t into aeroplanes and military things, you simply cannot ignore the ‘Lanc’ in flight.

So back to the South west and it’s appearing alongside a Hurricane and a Spitfire just down the road from Bath at RNAS Yeoviltons air day on Saturday July the 13th. Bath City Sound will be there and we may just have some tickets up for grabs for you to win. Amongst the vintage collection you can also catch the Eurofighter display, the Black Cats, The Reds of course and a whole plethora of top quality cars including the Bugatti Veyron.

On Tuesday we started the show by talking about our day. We both had exams, for me I have had three exams, Business, Math’s & RE. So it’s been quite a busy and stressful day for me doing lots of exams. Tom had two. But we think we have done really well in them which is good.

Local News

People collecting parcels and post will no longer face long delays after improvements were made to the Bath sorting office.

The collection point in Railway Place now has three serving counters and extra storage space to help cope with local demand.

The tablet is rumoured to be going into production in July ahead of a September launch, with the Cupertino firm shedding a third of the iPad 4′s weight for its latest model.

Microsoft is in talks with cable operators to replace set-top boxes with the new Xbox, it has been reported.

Sources have stated that Microsoft is in ongoing talks with cable operators. About the possibility of delivering content through the web instead of traditional cable pipes.

HTC One productions will double this month as the company moves past its supply issues.

The manufacturer said “strong demand” for its flagship Android device means production capacity will continue to increase into June,

After 4pm we talked about our favourite film at the moment, for me I didn’t really know but I said that I did really want to watch the new James Bond film. I have only ever seen a snippet of it. We then went onto talk about how long the film is because as far as I know its quite long. Tom said that he had saw it in a cinema on holiday and it was really good.

Spell It

The words on Tuesday’s spelling list were; Privilege, Relevant & weather. I only manage to spell one correct, which shows how bad I am at spelling. Its never been my strongest point.

Entertainment News

Bath City Sound is shortly announcing its new breed of DJs bringing the schedule to completion for the weekends. We have a whole host of Bath based audio gurus whose names we’ve been keeping tightly under wraps. Suffice to say they are all masters of their game and some are house hold names in the area.

As well as the specialists enticing you with delightful audio treats we are also indulging in commercial cuts in the form of a top 40 chart show. Its live, it’s exciting and a must listen for those keeping up to date with the movers and shakers of the music scene.

Music wise expect a myriad of cool cuts and plethora of ‘out there’ styles not normally heard on the wireless. Its a very exciting time for Bath’s only community radio station and where others are playing safe, we are breaking the boundaries. We promise you the sound will be like nothing else on UK radio. Keep em peeled.

Name That Tune

As you know on a Thursday we play Name That Tune. Tom reads out some lyrics and I have to guess what song they are from! Here were the lyrics:

Labels out here,

Now they can’t tell me nothing

We give that to the people,

Spread it across the country

On Tuesdays show we started the show by talking about a exam that Tom had. He had a sport studies exam, he wasn’t to sure how he done. But as I always so you can only ever do your best.

The Fact Of The Day

People are most truthful in face to face conversations and lie the most over the phone. Which I suppose is true because your are looking at the person face to face.

Local News

The Council, as part of the Connecting Devon and Somerset BDUK project, recently signed a contract with BT to deliver broadband internet speeds of up to 24mbps to 90% of households in rural parts of the authority.

Luke’s Big Update

Snapchat has admitted that it’s “sometimes possible” for users to recover deleted photos.

The app allows users to share pictures which are automatically deleted after ten seconds. Over 150 million images are sent each day.

Netflix has added Disney movies to its streaming service in the UK and Ireland.

Ratatouille, Robin Hood and The Aristocats are among the titles now available.

After 4pm we talked about our new code signals and about chocolate. In radio we need a way to communicate to one another on the air. We have developed some hand signals which means different things. So there is one to say move onto next song and stuff like that. Moving onto the chocolate part of the show, we were given a bar of chocolate each. If you can remember back to Mondays show we talked about our trip to the woods. It was what we won because we won a task. It was the best chocolate that I have ever had, but it was a struggle taking the rapper off.

Spell It

On a Tuesday we play our game spell it. It’s very simple Tom reads out 3 words and I have to spell them correctly to win a point! The words were Women, Listening & Caught. I spelt all 3 correct!

Entertainment News

Olly Murs has unveiled the video for his latest single ‘Dear Darlin”.

Robert Tufts was elected for the position last year and will now run Dorset for the next 12 months.

Hey its Luke here from School Rocks!

On Monday’s show we started the show by talking about our day. Tom and I went to the woods near our school to play a few team games. The aim of the game was to find the hidden ball in the forest. My team found ours almost instantly, someone hid it in a really bad. Because the game had only gone on for 20 seconds and we already won, Tom and I were tasked with hiding this ball somewhere off the ground. We found an absolutely amazing place! No one in the end found the ball so Tom and I won! Now the next challenge was finding where we had hid it. But don’t worry we had all of this planned, we put out a few markers to remind us.

The Fact Of The Day

The word “Bed” actually looks like a bed. (Look at the word “Bed” really hard and you will see it!)

Local News

A new incoming parliamentary bill will help take further action to tackle anti-social behaviour in Bath. The news comes as figures reveal that there have been 12,680 fewer incidents of anti-social behaviour in Avon and Somerset.

Luke’s Big Update

Samsung is experimenting with 5G technology and claims to have made a breakthrough in its research.

Scientists previously believed that the high-frequency wavebands required for 5G connectivity may be incompatible with mobile networks, but the Korean firm insists its ‘mmWave Mobile Technology’ system is fully fledged.

A Jetstream aircraft became the first to fly “unmanned” across UK shared airspace last month.

An on-board pilot handled the take-off, and landing.

But during the 500-mile journey, the specially adapted plane was controlled by a pilot on the ground, instructed by the National Air Traffic Services.

Microsoft has announced it will offer a preview version of its first major update to Windows 8 next month.

The news comes after growing criticism of the software’s user interface.

After 4pm we talked about what we would be getting up to in the evening. I said that I didn’t really know, I usually want to relax but that’s hard when you’re always so busy like me. Tom was having the night in.

What’s In The Box

As you know (or if you didn’t you now do) we play What’s In The Box on a Monday. The aim of the game is that Tom puts an item in a box and I have to guess what it is. The clues were that you can use it with your friends & it quite often is used on family games. I wasn’t really sure but when it can to the time of answering the question I just guessed dice. I was correct now making the scores 2 – 1.

Entertainment News

Olly Murs has unveiled the video for his latest single ‘Dear Darlin”.

The band played the track ‘Always the Same’ for the first time while performing at the Bottle Rock Music & Arts festival in Napa Valley, California on Saturday (May 11).

The Odd Story Of The Day

A report has forecast that the number of mobile phone subscriptions will surpass the number of people in the world during 2014.

The UN agency report has predicted that mobile subscriptions will surpass seven billion in early 2014, and will overtake the world population by the end of the year.

That’s the show
